To all my readers,
As you can see my story has not yet been restored on the board. From what we know, the ezboard team is working on it, but I have no idea how long that may take. I hesitate to re-post my 50+ chapters, as that will be a tremendous amount of work. Until I know for certain that my story will not be restored, I will hold off re-posting.

Meanwhile, please be assured that I am using this time to continue my story, and have already written chapters 29 and 30 part 2. At some point I may decide to post the new chapters in the Fan Fiction Forum, but I want to wait just a bit longer.

Dear readers,
I am so happy right now I could do a cartwheel! As you know, my story was wiped from the board... but before the board the attack, I saved all three pages of my Chanson de L'ange document from this board to desktop. (I found that I did save the first page after all!)

What discovered this morning is that I can use the edit function on my saved files, which will allow me to copy each chapter from the posting window! This is very good news, because I use a lot of bold and italics...that information will copy right into the new posts! Man, that saves me a ton of work! So..... happy happy happy!

From what I gather, the only threads that can be restored are those that were active at the time of the attack. I have no idea where this board is in the process of recovery, but I know that my threads were not active at that time, cause I was on the board reading "Ghosts Shadow" by another writer here, when the board went down.

Although I can restore my entire story to the board, I am saddened by the loss of all your Feedback! Please, give me more once I repost the story!

I NEED YOUR FEEDBACK!

There will be an announcement on the board when it is repaired enough for writers to re-post their work, For now I am sitting tight.

I completed chapter 30 last night, and I am moving on to chapter 31!

Okay, so what do you think about this chapter? (Betrayal)

One thing I want you to pay attention to as you read the next several chapters, is the way Christine speaks when she is with Raoul... just keep that in mind.

I wrote this scene closer to the Leroux version. Interesting how in Kay's book, she handles this scene quite differently. Her Erik has almost no emotional response to the kiss. But I wrote mine closer to Gerry's portrayal... obviously that kiss hurt the Phantom deeply.

I hope I am making Raoul more of a layered character... he is an important element in this story.

Now you did it again, Swan. You made me weep... My heart is beating faster but this time not out of being mad about Gerry or Erik, no. This time it was as if Erik's every heartbeat was mine, as he was listening to her betrayal. It was awful. It was great, my dear! What a perfect picture... God... Heartbreaking scenes....For me everything seems so real. It is only natural that Christine is afraid of him. She is a young girl, only discovering her own emotions. She doesn't know Erik really, she is mesmerized by him, but there is certainly a dark side of him, the he kept in secret.... I often wonder if Erik had told her about his past - when he told her about his childhood - if he would reveal his whole person, the he is OG and all... would she have loved him still? Would she accept that truth more willingly and forgive, than this way? Getting to know about his dark side in connection to Buquet's murder? If he had tol her his reasons, his sufferings, his aims... his dreams together in a beautiful house and not in the liar.... Would she love him?
Who knows...

Erik's sufferings are awful, beyond imagination. That simply kills me to read about it. I wonder how can you carry on writing these heartbreaking scenes? Where your strenght to write it comes from? I would cry my eyes out...
God, I want it all to see in print so much!!! The most hearbreaking and revealing novel of poor Erik! I am sure it is destined to be!!!

In response to your question about the way Christine is with Raoul, what I see is that she is trying to fabricate and transfer the love she has for Erik to Raoul because she sincerely believes that Erik magically ensnared her heart with his voice. Foolish girl that she is not yet understanding the magnetism of that incredible Phantom and the longings of her heart.

Christine has been sequestered all of her life first with her father and then under the safety and protection of Madame Giry and her near sister Meg. She does not understand deceit, blackmail and the evils of the world, so she clearly believes that she can trust anyone who is near to her. Her naivette will be her demise if the trust that she is placing in Raoul brings harm to her Erik. She is sure to suffer a flood of personal anguish if her loose tongue brings about any harm to her Erik.

This is sure to get interesting as Erik fights to reclaim his lovely Christine.

Thank you, thank you! I love your comments! You would be surprised how often I use them to determine where I go next with the story!

Your comments often reveal things you see in my characters that I may not, because I am just too close to them! (especially Erik... but holy sheep, I would like to get a lot closer!)

I am nearly ready to post 30, but will wait just wee bit longer to see if anymore feedback comes in for 29.

Adoring my dahling... 30 has some "bits" just for you! Must keep Erik tantalizingly sexy, even when I have to hurt him!

This Chapter had me in tears by the end.

I could really see and feel Erik's pain from Christine's betrayal my heart really went out to him. He finally took a chance and planned not only a life with Christine But a life outside of His underground home so he wouldn't have to deny her the things he shunned in the past to protect himself. The fact that he not only brought a ring for her but a home is in many ways a miracle. He is willing to change his entire Life for her. To be forced to listen to her while she turned to another man and betrayed him when he finaly was able to trust had to be the most heart wrenching thing he has ever gone through. His entire world and furture has just been shattered.

Christine seems to be afraid of many thing in the Chapter. Her feeling for Erik and what she is convinced he has done seem to have sent her running into what she see's as a safe place, Raoul's arms. Her imaturity and confusion were very easy to see in her conversation with Rauol. She seems to be having a hard time with the fact that her angel is simply a man. Maybe not a very good one and that scares her. She seems to fear her own sexuality and how Erik makes her feel. She is looking for an excuse , a way to explain her physical attraction to him. That way she doesn't have to admit her feeling she can hide behind something in this case his voice. Her fear of the furture has made her cling to the only thing she has from her past Raoul.

I'm an enjoying how your Raoul. He seems lost and confused when it comes to Christine. What ever Information he got from his brother seems to make him wonder just what is going on. Christine makes very little sense during the conversation at times and that has to have him wondering if she is even sane.

This chapter left me in tears For Erik and it left me angry at Christine For the betrayal of my darling Erik.

I am also very courious to learn the secerts that Raoul Learned from his brother about Christine's family and past.

Oh you read that scene perfectly. I really appreciate your taking time to make such detailed comments. Even though I also am very angry with Christine's immaturity... I totally understand it. How many of us have been in love with someone who just couldn't measure up to our expectations of utter perfection.

Both Erik and Christine have much to learn.

I was hoping to post chapter 30 today but alas, I have a migraine and can barely see the screen. Maybe tonight if it lets up.

This has been such a moving retelling of this beautiful story.
Over the last couple of days I have sat and read it out loud to my daughter and we have both been moved to tears.
The intimate scene's between Erik and Christine have been breathtaking. We have been willing Erik to reveal his true feeling and self to Christine, even when we knew he had to hold back.
She is so confused, so young and innocent and at times this is frustrating. For us as well as Erik.
In this chapter she is looking for what she thinks is the safe and easy way out, after all she really is a child in her mind with the added confusion of a womens heart and body. She does not understand what she feels for Erik. She only knows that these feelings frighten her, and that the feelings she has when she is with Raoul are not the mind, body and soul consuming feeling she has when she is with Erik. These leave
exhausted and longing for more while Raoul's leave her feeling safe.
Please let her listen to him, Please let her understand him. It breaks my heart to think of him as confused as her. Everything he does he try's to justify by doing it for her.

Thank you for this beautiful story. Wish I could be better at feedback. I just write what I feel.

My daughter is 13 for some reason she still loves me to read to
her. A few lines I may read in my head to myself though. Lets just say she hears 95%. She always say's that she can picture everything in her head better that way.

I was curious about her age, because the story does have some sexuality. But a 13 year-old should be able to handle it. That's so sweet that she wants you to read out loud to her. You must have a close relationship. I wish I had a daughter. I have only one child, a son, and he is 26.

13 is a very special age for a girl.

Well I'm glad the two of you are enjoying this love story. Did she like the movie POTO? And what does she think of Gerry's Phantom?

Daisy loves the whole Phantom experience. The film being her first introduction. At first she felt herself swaying to Raoul as a young girl would. But when I explained the reasons to her why Erik was like he was, she understood his way's. She felt pity for him. Although she still say's that some of Gerry's Phantom did scare her. Killing Bouquet did disturb her sleep for a night. And the last scenes after PONR she finds sad, yet find's Erick's slipping mind scary too. She loves Gerry (lucky for me) and thinks his Phantom is outstanding as we all do. This story is good for her as she can picture Gerry's phantom. When I have told her the other Phantom stories I have to tell her to remember these are not Gerry's Phantom these are much more disfigured and much older. She prefers Gerry's Phantom to any other I think.
I hope to take her to London next month to see the show. She in very excited about that.
I love reading these stories to her, she stops me and ask's questions, that make me even think sometimes.

I forgot something when I commented yesterday. I Like the way you are writing Raoul. In fact I like him in this story But I also liked him in the ALW movie. He like all the other people in your version is being fleshed nicely. I am seeing more of his personailty and more of why he is attracted to Christine. I am enjoying the fact that at this point while he is an revial for Erik he is not being shown as a petty villian or an evil man. The way you are writing him seem very true to the Raoul we see in the ALW movie.

There are not enough words to describe the joy, passion, and excitement your story brings to my life. Being Sixteen, there isn't much in the world that can fill a girl's longing for love and romance; your story is an exception. The pain and confusion of love that Erik feels along with his loneliness and heartache meshes perfectly into a tale of tragic romance. The way you've created Erik's personality and experiences exceeds exceptional-it's brilliant. I know that's not much coming from a green girl such as myself but all I say is true. Each character is thoroughly portrayed into real life persons and made believable. Raoul's silent questioning about Christine's sanity that interferes with his naive love for her, Christine's confusion on Erik's terrifying actions that conflicts with her love for him, and Erik's internal pain and suffering with Christine's 'betrayal' driving him to the point of madness. Your story has such depth and emotion that is rare in writings today, I only wish to see more of it. And soon (hint hint). I hope you don't mind, but I'd also like to praise your balanced portrayal of each of your characters. I'd noticed in Fanfics an Author would favor one character over another, usually in cases where there were two males suitors. It was always obvious who they were rooting for when one character was completely out of, well, character. I'm overjoyed you didn't make Raoul into an arrogant aristocratic pompous nor Erik a malicious ravenous monster. All of your characters are equally spotlighted, both in good and bad. I shall remain a faithful reader as long as you shall continue to write. You'll most likely be hearing from me again, so until then...

You are only 16 and you write like that? When are you going to write your own fanfic... or have you already? You really express yourself beautifully!

I am glad you like the balance of my characters. I am very interested in the plot and character development in this story. As for making Raoul a multi-dimensional and interesting person, I think Erik deserves a good rival!

Now a bit of warning for my readers:

I am sure you all know that anyone who really had the life of our fictional Erik would not be a "normal" person. I am attempting to explore his emotional/spiritual darkness... this means showing his slipping mental grasp. The next chapter will be intense.

I intend to post it as soon as this @###$**^% headache lets up.

I just discovered your story this week. I had been reluctant to add another big Phantom story as all the different Geriks of the stories I'm following are getting hard to keep straight, frankly. (Wait is this the Gerik in Russia or India or fighting the French rebels or with the seamstress girlfriend or . . . . )

But since some of my favorites are being slow to update, I immersed myself in your story. And immersed is the word. I did absolutely nothing else the day I started reading -- poor hubby got a bit low on clean laundry!!

I just reread some of your chapters, especially that last one. And I don't do that -- reread something very often at all. It's just . . . so good I can't even express it properly. And I read your forward -- very moving.

The pictures you paint with your writing -- I can just feel that sexual tension and see Christine's confusion and innocence like I'm watching a movie. Really powerful writing!

To the lovely Miss Swan:

Once again, you have captured my heart with your ingenuity of romance and angst story-telling. It is as though your imagination thrives off our inner-most fantasies and bleeds with deaf emotion. I was patiently awaiting for your next installment of "Chanson de L'ange" and I cannot say I was disappointed in the least. Once again, we find Erik being lured into his dark fantasies where his ardent love for Christine is blinded by unfurling madness. Hopefully, Christine's compassionate heart will not let Erik slip from her light and save him from his darkness. To reply to your curiousity of our (readers) views about Raoul and Erik's contrasting vision of Christine, I'd say that Raoul sees Christine as a vulnerable and fragile girl whilst Erik envisions her as a sensual creature of heaven. One joy that I do partake in, is how both Raoul and Erik see her as the entity of purity but both have wanton desires for Christine. The tortures of denial in the joys of the flesh, ahahaha. And now I must part for I've finals in schools that I am reluctant to tend to...Until you write again.
I hope for you to update soon for there is not much in life that savors such warmth as your writing brings to mine. Sad, I know .

I nearly finished Part I - due to a lot of work (shouldn't have been gone for 3 weeks ) I can not read as fast as I usually do, which gives me even more pleasure, cause you style to write and express feelings lets your audience completely in!!!! I could actually feel Christine shaking from fever and I felt Eriks pain when he saw her ... very intrigueing!!!

I am sooooooooo looking forward to Part II and to catch up with you lasses to actually discussing and commenting on the actual Chapters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BUT I will take it nice and slow and really enjoy every detail you can offer me.

Due to the fact that English is unfortunately not my mothertongue I am maybe not the perfect "expresser" of comments, BUT I say and write what I feel and I really do appreciate you sharing this wonderful piece of writing with us.

Are you aware of the intensity and tension of your writing? Are you aware of that it's killing people?.... I know I know, it's killing You in the first place.
I could always write something about the chapters but Chapter 30 is beyond me. The pain, shock and horror I felt when I read it is beyond imagination. Erik's pain is... simply unbearable. Do you think a human being can endure so much pain? The girl is confused, but hell, she is mad to choose Raoul. Oh, I know, this pain and compassion I feel is not simply for Erik -not for ANY Erik, it is for the Erik Gerry portrays... It would kill me to read such feelings about anyone, I know, but I SEE Gerry's face there, his Erik, his beautiful, angelic, graceful Erik comes to life there on every page you write, and it gives me so much heartache, so much pain that cannot be described. I long to be her, to take her place and love him, comfort him, give him my entire life forever. I wish it all was real and was her. My heart raced when I read about him. When he wanted to destroy his beautiful face I almost cried out loud, God, don't do that!! Please, don't let him do it!!! The scene when he lay in her bed... The first thought that come to me that with that scene a lot of people would think, he is a pervert, what will he be doing there.... But no. That is perfect. With that love, lust and passion, pain and longing he feels for her, it is the only way, yes, he would do it. All those years of loneliness and craving, there is no man who wouldn't want to smell her scent, to touch her clothes, to take her... That scene is brilliant. And Christine's also. With all the lust, the effect he has on her, yes, she would want to feel him. *I* would love to feel him... HIM. Only. God, who gives a damn about Raoul...
I am aware I am not really giving advice here my dear, only raving about my own feelings.... Oh well. Cannot help it, I guess, I have so much affection for that man. The MAN and not for the Angel.... You know a few days ago I read a few pages from the Leroux book and I was disgusted. Disgusted by THAT Christine. When she tells Raoul that all the way she was disgusted by Erik, and all the way she lied to him just to gain his trust and that way she could be free... I was so shocked, I totally forgot about it. Luckily your Christine is not like her, she is young and confused, but she has sincere feeling for Erik. Like in the film.
I can only constantly repeat myself, but I adore your writing. For me this is the only way that is acceptable and real. I hope the next chapter has so treat for us - oh, let them make love! Don't have to be deatailed, but let that poor man have her only once in his life! (at least :-)

I finally got into the forum - yeeeaaaa! What a mess I made this morning - sorry, Admins. This is the third review I've written this morning - hope this one "takes."

I just copied over the last 2 chapters and will read them this weekend. I must admit that I'm reading rather hesitantly now, because I just don't want Erik to suffer any further heartache! How can he continue to exist with so much pain and disappointment? I want him to find peace and happiness and erase that constant look of melancholy from his eyes!! Is that too much to ask? I will sign over my first born if you give your story a happy ending! Just kidding, of course - I know this is YOUR story and I shouldn't try and influence it, but I'm really not sure if I can finish. That's how powerful your writing is!

The story is amazing. Your talent is astounding!! You should be very proud of this labor of love, as I'm sure you are!

You move me so much. This chapter has had me holding my breath for the most part. I was fighting to control the lump in my throat for they first half. I have to say "poor Christine" so confused and unsure of everything. Still a child in one sense
trying to follow the right path's that she has been taught. The good path. Promising herself to what would be the worlds "right choice" Raoul. When knowing that she has these
beautiful, sexual and heart felt feelings for the only man she loves. Her Angel, her Eric.
Then the lump in my throat has gone, streams are now flowing down my cheeks and the voice in my head is screaming "no no no". I was so afraid then, to think of this man suffering so much pain,hurt and anguish that he was going to destroy something so beautiful.
I am so glad that Eric didnt take Christine form the stage on the final night. It makes it all so more real to think that she returned on her own accord.

Once again, I thank you for your feedback. Please hang in there with me Phlooze! We have a looooong way to go with this story. Erik is not at his deepest level of darkness yet.... Remember, this man has NEVER known love. That is what this story is about. How is one twisted and wounded when one is never loved?

There is a real soul struggle going on here, but be assured that I am an avid reader, I am telling this story the way I would want to read it, because other versions have left me unsatisfied. I promise you all... then end, (which is a long way off) will be satisfying. So trust me!

ok back to the main reason I am here - I finished Part 1 this morning on my way to work and as you promised Part 2 becomes even more intense!!!

the way he struggles with his non-excisting sexual life is amazing - and the self-loathing is driving myself mad from time to time ... but then again the different steps his love for Christine takes ... it's just to good to be true - can't wait to catch up and discuss the actual chapters with you guys ...

Do not attempt to run spell check on your comments before posting. This is the second blasted time I have lost a huge feedback comment because I tried to spell check. The comment disappears never to be found again. Arghhhhhhhh.

Swan, I absolutely loved this chapter. It was teeming with agony, energy, despair, passion, longing and hope. While I have told you that tears come hard to me, I was darn close to shedding some over Erik's demise and his wallowing in his pit of hell (at least for the time being). I am crazy about the fact while Erik is unabashedly wanton with desire to make love to Christine, and I mean "to" and not "with." While he knows he has the wherewithal and the goods to make this happen, he is constantly questioning his own deformity and what place that will have in the consummation of his relationship with his beloved. The poor man just doesn't have any experience with the full-blown love and compassion of a woman.

Your mirror scenes just flatten me, and I was once again enthralled over the activity that happens in front of it. It was pretty intense even before she donned her sheer nightgown (a little eye candy for Erik, yes?). Is it possible she was hoping that perhaps Erik was indeed on the other side? That Christine is is suffering with pangs of withdrawal for Erik, offers me some heartfelt relief. She is deserving of whatever agony she is now suffering, having inflicted such pain upon Erik. What I would like to see is another wicked hot mirror scene between the two of them where Erik is once again bringing her to the brink of ecstasy, but where is holding out making her suffer some of the depth of the agony and despair that she was heaped upon him.

Dear Swan,

I bow down to Your greatness !
the last chapter was heart wrenching and Painful in many ways and actually left me at a loss for words for a while.
You did such an amazeing job.

In one chapter you were able to show us how lost and confused all three players in this triangle are.

Christine wants to be the good and proper girl and is trying to make a the relationship with Rauol work but her body and in many ways her soul simply isn't in it. She is drawn to Erik on a very primal level that has her confused. She has no idea how to deal with her adult feeling for Erik and has no one she can turn to.

Erik's slip into madness was painful and heart breaking he had me in tears during the mirror scene. Your writeing had me right there in the moment I could see him standing there shard of glass in hand. It is frightening that his love and desire for Christine would drive him to such an act. He is so lonely and lost with these feeling and like Christine really has no one to turn to.

You asked how do each of the men see Christine?

Rauol seems to see her as that little angel of a girl he fell in love with all those summers ago . He see's her as sweet innocent and someone he needs to save and protect. The problem is he doesn't seems to see her as she really is but seems to see her as what he wants her to be. He loves her but he loves her from his memories more than from reality.

Erik sees her as a woman who he wants and desires on a very basic and primal level. He also sees her as his salvation the one thing that will save him from the horrible loneliness and pain he has suffered all these years. He loves her with that earth shattering frist love or forever love. His very soul seems to desperately need and want her.

Anyway this is almost as long as your chapter so I will end this now before it turns into a book.

I am looking forward to the next chapter.

Thanks for the detailed comments. Swan is conjuring up some lovely moments for the next chapter. It's amazing where I draw my inspiration. I sang for my uncle's funeral yesterday in a beautiful chapel.

The chapel gave me an idea.... and I can't wait to start writing 31! Hey, I am becoming an addict to writing this story. Especially when I am rewarded by your lovely comments and emotional reactions.

Just wanted to let y'all know that I am working on chapter 31 after a bit a of a delay.

These chapters are fairly intense... and I can't pump them out in a matter of one or two days. The deeper I get into this story, the more complex each new chapter becomes to write. So hang in there, and read your favorite chapters over again until I post a new one.

It will be 2 or 3 days for chapter 31. Trust me, it will be worth the wait!
